Since moving all of the Pastor Marv Recommends articles from Blog Diyiin Bi to Christian Internet Resources, we decided that CIR needs a facelift.

CIR was originally intended to be a blog with which to experiment in order to find just the right combination of themes and plugins to use on The Go light and, after its move to Wordpress, Blog Diyiin Bi. The Go Light was originally intended to get all of the business-oriented articles from Blog Diyiin Bi, which included most of the articles in the “Pastor Marv Recommends” category. About halfway through the project, it was decided to keep CIR up and place all of the “Pastor Marv Recommends” articles here. So Blog Diyiin Bi is now a ministry-only blog, The Go Light is a business-only blog, and CIR is a combinitation. And John’s Joint is in a class all by itself…

Since we don’t really like darker themes, the Arclite theme had to go. As of today, in its place, the “Gadget-story” theme is installed and in use. The only downside of the Gadget-story theme is that the “print this article” plugin doesn’t work with it, but you can still print an article by clicking on its title and printing the displayed page. That will, unfortunately, print the sidebar as well, and it prints everything in one column. A better solution is to highligt/copy/paste to your favorite word processing program (WordPad works OK, but I use Open Office Org) and print it that way. Keep in mind that all articles are copyright (c) by Diyiin Bi, LLC, and/or the author. You can print them for your own personal use only.

When I was looking for a wholesale supplier who will drop-ship Bibles and Christian books, I stumbled upon The Jerusalem Gift Shop, located, as the name implies, in Jerusalem, Israel. On their website, I found mention of a wholesale account, and so fired off an email asking about drop shipping. Less than 10 minutes after sending the email, Ian, the owner of the shop, called me! He doesn’t drop ship, but he does have an affiliate program. So Diyiin Bi, LLC, is now an affiliate for The Jerusalem Gift Shop. This fits in very well our (Pastor Marv and Betsy’s) belief system, especially since The Jerusalem Gift Shop is a Christian gift store. (See the sidebar “We Support Israel.”) So now, you can click on the link in the sidebar (on all four blogs) and order gifts straight from Jerusalem, and Diyiin Bi, LLC will get a small commission on anything you buy. Remember, Diyiin Bi, LLC is the (so far, only) corporate sponsor of our ministry blog, Blog Diyiin Bi, so those commissions will help keep the blog in operation. Also, Diyiin Bi, LLC was started as a way to enable Betsy and me to be in full-time ministry, kind-of like the Apostle Paul’s tent-making business, since we don’t have any churches providing support for us. In the future, we may set up a wholesale account with The Jerusalem Gift Shop and sell their products in a traditional brick-and-mortar store. But for now, we will just sell their products online as an affiliate.

You can buy everything from shofars to CDs, anointing oil, jewelry, books, and even software to help learn Hebrew. Check it out for yourself here.

May God richly bless you,
Pastor Marv

A Couple of New Blogs

When Blog Diyiin Bi was started a few months ago, it was intended to be a for-profit venture. It quickly evolved into a ministry blog, and the eCommerce aspects of it look out-of-place mixed in with devotionals, articles on apologetics, and other Christian ministry posts.

So Blog Diyiin Bi will have two new sister blogs. All new articles related to online business that would have been in the “Pastor Marv Recommends” category of Blog Diyiin Bi will now be on one of the new blogs, The Go Light. Some of the reviews that would have been in the “Pastor Marv Recommends” category will now be posted on Christian Internet Resources. There will be a small amount of overlap between all three blogs, and possibly there will be some articles posted on more than one of the blogs, depending on the topic. For instance, a review of Bible study software could be posted on both Blog Diyiin Bi and Christian Internet Resources, with some words and phrases in the article changed so that the search engines won’t flag it as duplicate content.

The Go Light and Christian Internet Resources together will be an expansion of Blog Diyiin Bi’s “Pastor Marv Recommends” category, with The Go Light getting all of the business-related articles and Christian Internet Resources getting all of the software, web site, and other reviews may not fit in with the new ministry-only format of Blog Diyiin Bi. All existing articles that are on Blog Diyiin Bi will stay there because of the fact that they have been indexed by the search engines, but there may be some pingbacks in articles on the other two blogs that point to them. Some articles previously posted to Blog Diyiin Bi may be reworded as stated in the previous paragraph and posted to one of the new blogs, and this article will be slightly reworded and posted to all three blogs!

For both of the new blogs, I will accept and moderate articles by guest writers. If you would like to write articles for either or both blogs, please send me email via the contact link on any of the three blogs. You can place links to your own blogs, squeeze pages, affiliate sites, or other websites in the articles, and since the links do NOT use the “nofollow” attribute, your website(s) will be spidered when the search engines index the blog. Keep in mind that these blogs are owned and operated by a Bible-believing Christian and are intended for a Christian audience, so no articles containing illegal material, warez, so-called “adult” content, etc., or links to those, will be accepted.

I also disabled the “nofollow” attribute for links in comments on the two new blogs (the “dofollow” plugin is installed), so leaving a comment for an existing post will also result in the search engines indexing your websites that have links in your comment. And, of course, any comments with inappropriate content, including links to inappropriate websites, or comments with too many links (one to three links will be OK, depending on the length of your comment), will be removed without notice. Repeat offenders may be blacklisted on all blogs that I moderate. I reserve the right to delete any comment that, in my sole discretion, I deem to be inappropriate. In general, and there may be exceptions to this, I will not delete a comment for the sole reason that the author of it disagrees with me. If a comment has some things of value but also has inappropriate content, I may elect to edit it rather than delete it, but if I do, I will do it in such a way that it will be clear that it was edited. (And the edited comment just might have the “nofollow” attribute added to any links, depending on the reason it was edited. I don’t want to waste “link juice” on garbage!)

I will also consider accepting articles by guest authors for Blog Diyiin Bi, but will be much more selective about article content, the qualifications of the author, and subject matter. Contributing authors for Blog Diyiin Bi should be involved in ministry, either full-time (such as pastors, evangelists, etc.), or part-time, such as Sunday school teachers and other lay leaders. If you are not faithful to your local church, or if you are an evangelist who thinks he doesn’t need to be part of a local church, don’t bother asking to write for Blog Diyiin Bi. I may request references from your pastor or others before accepting any articles from you. If you would like to write articles for Blog Diyiin Bi, use the contact link on the blog and tell me a little about your Christian experience, what type of ministry you are involved in, and what type(s) of articles you would like to write, and anything else you think I should know so I can make an informed decision. I will set up new categories if I like your proposed topic(s) and none of the existing ones are appropriate. Just remember that Blog Diyiin Bi is a Christian blog owned and operated by a conservative Pentecostal pastor, and the Bible is the standard used to determine if the article is appropriate for the blog. That’s why most of the “Pastor Marv Recommends” articles will now be posted to one or the other of the new blogs – I am uncomfortable mixing business and ministry the way it would need to be done in order for the blog to be effective as a commercial enterprise; that would destroy its effectiveness as a ministry tool. The links in Blog Diyiin Bi articles, like those in the two new blogs, do not use the “nofollow” attribute, so links to your own websites will be crawled by the search engines. Links in comments on Blog Diyiin Bi do have the “nofollow” attribute, but that will be changed soon – when the blogging platform is changed from b2evolution to Wordpress.

Both The Go Light and Christian Internet Resources use the Wordpress blogging scripts. Blog Diyiin Bi uses b2evolution. At some time in the near future, Blog Diyiin Bi will be moved to the Wordpress platform, but that will be a major project and will likely result in the blog being down for a short time.

in His service,
Pastor Marv
