Hi All,

This article was originally published May 27, 2009 on Blog Diyiin Bi, and is being moved to Christian Internet Resources in keeping with the new ministry-only orientation of Blog Diyiin Bi. It will cover a few of the many free e-Sword resources and modules that are available on the Internet. It is not an in-depth review of any module or website. The e-Sword website (and some of the other websites listed in this article) have some links to premium resources that you may purchase. I am not endorsing any premium resources in this article, primarily because I do not own any of them yet.

All links that go to a website not on Blog Diyiin Bi’s domain (diyiinbi.org) will open in a new browser window. (Or new tab, on tabbed browsers such as FireFox.) This will be true for all articles from now on.

First of all, for those of you who, like me, prefer to use Ubuntu Linux rather than Microsoft Windows, here is a how-to for installing e-Sword in Ubuntu. The thread has updates for installing e-Sword 9.x. For those who may not know, Ubuntu is a completely free Linux-based operating system for your computer that you can download and install. Ubuntu is probably the most popular distribution of Linux. For more information, check out the Ubuntu website. There, you will find links to numerous resources about Linux in general and Ubuntu in particular.

Now, about e-Sword and its modules…

…as of May 27, 2009, the latest version of e-Sword is 9.03. If you have a version older than 9.x already installed, be sure to heed the warning on e-Sword’s website about updating modules! Older modules may not work with the new version.

One of the most comprehensive list of e-Sword resources and information to be found on the Internet is David Cox’s website. Rev. Cox has information on how to create your own modules, as well as links to find modules by other third-party providers. He has an article about version 9 in which he advises NOT to upgrade if you are using an older version. Read it for yourself here. He also said that he is migrating to a new free Bible study program, THEWORD. This program will be the topic of a future article, when time permits a thorough tryout of the program.

Another very comprehensive e-Sword resource is http://e-sword-users.org/users/. They have tons of modules, including both free and premium.

If Rev. Cox’s assessment of e-Sword and THEWORD are correct, I probably will follow his lead and migrate to http://www.theword.gr/en/, even though e-Sword is a great program, and is the one I presently teach in the basic computer class at Southwest Indian Ministry.

God bless you,
Pastor Marv

This article was originally posted on Blog Diyiin Bi (BDB). Since BDB has been changed from part business/part ministry to all ministry, this article will be posted to Christian Internet Resources (CRI) and deleted from BDB.

In case anyone has bookmarks or other links to the original post, the URI it had on BDB will be redirected to the new location here on CRI, so you will not have to change your bookmarks or other links.

The promotional links mentioned in this article have been removed from BDB and will eventually be placed on CRI, The Go Light, or both. The Evangelical Christian Community webring will probably be placed back on BDB. All the links were removed when BDB was migrated from the b2evolution platform to Wordpress.

In the first “Pastor Marv Recommends” article, we talked about the free e-Sword Bible study program and the Global Domains International business opportunity. This time, we will talk about some ways to promote your GDI business. They can be used even if you joined Global Domains International under a different sponsor…as my wife did! (Well, actually, she joined first…so I’m the one who joined under a different sponsor.) Both her link and mine are in the rotator, and we are currently using the promotional tools discussed in this article to promote her GDI business. If one GDI business grows a bit faster than the other, we will adjust which programs are being used for which business in order to keep them both growing at about the same rate.

In the next article, we will talk about e-Sword resources that are available for free on the Internet. But now, let’s jump into business promotion.

You may have noticed a few new links on Blog Diyiin Bi. Specifically, they are Evangelical Christian Community and the link to its parent organization, Powered By Ringsurf, both in the sidebar, and a banner at the bottom of the page which contains several links. Both are webrings, and have been added as a way to get more traffic to the blog, as are all of the links in the “Blog Diyiin Bi Links” box. As of the time this article is being written (the afternoon of Saturday, June 13, 2009) we are waiting for the webring administrators of both webring programs to approve Blog Diyiin Bi as a member of the respective webring. One of the requirements for being approved is to put the code on the webpage so that they can test it, so the code is in place for both webrings but not yet actually working the way it will once we are approved.

Since “Pastor Marv Recommends” is used as a forum to advertise our business opportunities (including, when we get the website online and live, our Online Bible and Christian Book Store) these links will indirectly help us advertise our businesses.

I have signed up for a few promotional programs that look like they might be pretty good. One of them offers $250 in free advertising. They are:

Ads and Cash, which offers the $250 in free advertising mentioned above and which is being used to promote the next two programs. This one can be used to promote any online business, not just your GDI or GDI-related business.

GDI Star Team, which is used to promote GDI directly.

GDI Income Team, which is also used to promote GDI directly. This one was joined just this morning, and my member’s area in it is not completely set up yet. That will be completed a couple of hours after this article is posted to the blog.

All three have a complete suite of tools and programs that can be used to generate traffic. All three are free to join, and have paid upgrade options. All three offer commissions several levels deep when downline members upgrade. So why did we join two programs that specifically promote GDI? Two reasons: they have different programs that are used to promote GDI, and we have two GDI businesses. While GDI allows one account per PERSON, both of these programs allow only one account per HOUSEHOLD. So, to promote two GDI businesses from the same household, we had to use two different programs. But, even if we had only one GDI business in our household, we would use both programs anyway. We will most likely keep Betsy’s GDI business advertised in GDI Star Team, and at some point, start using GDI Income Team to advertise mine.

You can join GDI under Betsy at Betsy’s GDI website or under me at Pastor Marv’s GDI website. (Both GDI businesses are completely seperate – neither Betsy nor I joined as a member of the other’s downline.)

If you join either of the two GDI Promotional programs above and then join GDI from within one of them, you will join under Betsy since I put her GDI referral information in both. This may change in the future.

If you want to join under one of us but are not sure which one, use the rotator address and let it choose one of us or one of our downline members randomly. It is at Blog Diyiin Bi’s GDI url rotator. If you join GDI under either Betsy or me, or under one of our downline members, your GDI promotional url will be added to the rotator as long as you are no more that five levels below Betsy or me. (This offer subject to change without notice – see the first “Pastor Marv Recommends” article for more complete disclaimer.)

Please consider joining GDI under one of us, and use these three programs to help promote your business. If you are already in GDI under someone else, you can still use these three programs. If you do, please sign up under us. If you join GDI under either Betsy or me, and you find a good program to promote GDI, let us know about it. If we join any program that is recommended by one of our blog readers, we will join it under the first person that brought it to our attention, as long as you are in either my GDI downline or Betsy’s.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3 John 1:2)

“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee.” (Numbers 6:24)
