This article was originally published June 30, 2009 on Blog Diyiin Bi (BDB), and has been moved from there to Christian Internet Resources (CIR) in keeping with the new ministry-only orientation of BDB. Not all of the links and advertising widgets mentioned as being in place on BDB have been installed on CIR yet, and all were removed from BDB when it was migrated from b2evolution to Wordpress. After they have been added to CIR, some will also be re-installed on BDB.

Today, we will talk about a few more resources for advertising your online business and getting traffic to your website. All links in this article open in a new window.

Advertising is an absolute requirement for any business to survive and grow, both for traditional brick-and-mortar businesses and for online businesses. Some advertising methods will work for both, and others may be suitable only for one or the other.

We are constantly looking at different ways to get more website traffic, especially to this blog. A blog is a great way to advertise an online business, which was one of the main reasons for starting Blog Diyiin Bi. When it was decided to make BDB a ministry-only blog, CIR and The Go Light were started to take the advertising that was on BDB. Some advertising will remain on BDB in order to be able to keep it online. As of right now, the only advertising on BDB is for our Amazon.com associate store, created specifically for BDB. It advertises only books that are on Christian topics. The associate store on The Go Light and the ones we will soon be placing on CIR and John’s Joint will advertise many more items. In fact, the associate store on The Go Light already advertises computers.

Some of the links that were designed to increase website traffic will be put back on over the next few weeks, as well as being placed on John’s Joint, CIR, and The Go Light.

Having said that, there is now yet another advertising widget on Blog Diyiin Bi. This one is a combination of paid advertising and website traffic generation. Look for “Recommended Posts from LeadsLeap Blog” near the bottom of the sidebar. LeadsLeap is a program (free to join, and with a pro upgrade option) that is designed to build your mailing list and get traffic for your websites. We just joined that program this morning, and so a future post will comment on how well it works. Sign up for the free program, and if you can afford it, you might want to take advantage of the one-time upgrade offer. ($19.90 as of this morning…and yes, we did…so we are pro in LeadsLeap.) LeadsLeap looks like it might be a pretty good program. The normal cost to upgrade to pro is $27/month, but with the one-time offer they had this morning, there was a rebrandable eBook for $19.90 (sells for $27 in the LeadsLeap members’ area) and as a bonus, the first month of pro is free, with the one-time offer locking in a discounted $19.90/month thereafter. If you want to upgrade to pro in LeadsLeap, you need to think fast – when 5% of their members have upgraded to pro, they disable further upgrades until there are more free members. However, their membership is growing rapidly, and so there will be ongoing, if limited, opportunities to upgrade.

For a couple of weeks or so now, we have had a “Christians Unite” webring widgit at the bottom of the blog. (This one is strictly for generating traffic to the blog.) Blog Diyiin Bi has finally been approved as a full-fledged member of that webring. Please check out the other webring members’ websites by clicking on the various links in the widgit (or here: random, prev, next) and, if you have a Christian-oriented website, consider joining by clicking on the “Join Now” link from Blog Diyiin Bi. It is free, and should increase traffic to your website.

In a previous article, we recommended “GDI Income Team” as a way to promote your GDI business. We no longer recommend that one, due to problems with some of the advertising and traffic generating programs that are part of it. If that should change for the better, we will once again recommend “GDI Income Team.”

We still highly recommend GDI Star Team as a way to promote GDI, as well as the other programs mentioned in the Blog Diyiin Bi article where these programs were mentioned.

There is one more method of advertising to mention before closing…you couldn’t help but notice the slide-in ad – unless you have javascript disabled, in which case many features of this blog will not work. The slide-in ad is one of the tools provided by LeadsLeap. We may not keep it on this blog, because too much advertising is worse than not enough. Or we might simply put it on one of the back pages (maybe the Links from “Pastor Marv Recommends” articles page.) Or, we might remove another ad widgit and leave the new slide-in ad on the main blog page where it is now.

It is similar to a popup window, but current popup blockers can’t block it since it is part of the main page. If you use FireFox and have the noscript plugin installed, you can disable stuff like the slide-in ad while allowing other client-side-scripted items to display normally. It will probably be a very effective form of advertising for some time, and when it ceases to be effective, something else will be invented to take its place. Right now, it is still fairly new, and LeadsLeap has the best implimentation of it. TrafficPython also has a similar advertising tool. (This is our referral link for TrafficPython, which we also use.) If you want to see the TrafficPython slide-in ad in use, go here. (And sign up for our free teprofits report about making money with traffic exchanges!) Traffic Python’s slide-in does not display properly in the FireFox browser, but it worked OK in Internet Explorer 7. Not sure about IE 8.

May God richly bless you,
Pastor Marv

This article was originally posted on Blog Diyiin Bi (BDB). Since BDB has been changed from part business/part ministry to all ministry, this article will be posted to Christian Internet Resources (CRI) and deleted from BDB.

In case anyone has bookmarks or other links to the original post, the URI it had on BDB will be redirected to the new location here on CRI, so you will not have to change your bookmarks or other links.

The promotional links mentioned in this article have been removed from BDB and will eventually be placed on CRI, The Go Light, or both. The Evangelical Christian Community webring will probably be placed back on BDB. All the links were removed when BDB was migrated from the b2evolution platform to Wordpress.

In the first “Pastor Marv Recommends” article, we talked about the free e-Sword Bible study program and the Global Domains International business opportunity. This time, we will talk about some ways to promote your GDI business. They can be used even if you joined Global Domains International under a different sponsor…as my wife did! (Well, actually, she joined first…so I’m the one who joined under a different sponsor.) Both her link and mine are in the rotator, and we are currently using the promotional tools discussed in this article to promote her GDI business. If one GDI business grows a bit faster than the other, we will adjust which programs are being used for which business in order to keep them both growing at about the same rate.

In the next article, we will talk about e-Sword resources that are available for free on the Internet. But now, let’s jump into business promotion.

You may have noticed a few new links on Blog Diyiin Bi. Specifically, they are Evangelical Christian Community and the link to its parent organization, Powered By Ringsurf, both in the sidebar, and a banner at the bottom of the page which contains several links. Both are webrings, and have been added as a way to get more traffic to the blog, as are all of the links in the “Blog Diyiin Bi Links” box. As of the time this article is being written (the afternoon of Saturday, June 13, 2009) we are waiting for the webring administrators of both webring programs to approve Blog Diyiin Bi as a member of the respective webring. One of the requirements for being approved is to put the code on the webpage so that they can test it, so the code is in place for both webrings but not yet actually working the way it will once we are approved.

Since “Pastor Marv Recommends” is used as a forum to advertise our business opportunities (including, when we get the website online and live, our Online Bible and Christian Book Store) these links will indirectly help us advertise our businesses.

I have signed up for a few promotional programs that look like they might be pretty good. One of them offers $250 in free advertising. They are:

Ads and Cash, which offers the $250 in free advertising mentioned above and which is being used to promote the next two programs. This one can be used to promote any online business, not just your GDI or GDI-related business.

GDI Star Team, which is used to promote GDI directly.

GDI Income Team, which is also used to promote GDI directly. This one was joined just this morning, and my member’s area in it is not completely set up yet. That will be completed a couple of hours after this article is posted to the blog.

All three have a complete suite of tools and programs that can be used to generate traffic. All three are free to join, and have paid upgrade options. All three offer commissions several levels deep when downline members upgrade. So why did we join two programs that specifically promote GDI? Two reasons: they have different programs that are used to promote GDI, and we have two GDI businesses. While GDI allows one account per PERSON, both of these programs allow only one account per HOUSEHOLD. So, to promote two GDI businesses from the same household, we had to use two different programs. But, even if we had only one GDI business in our household, we would use both programs anyway. We will most likely keep Betsy’s GDI business advertised in GDI Star Team, and at some point, start using GDI Income Team to advertise mine.

You can join GDI under Betsy at Betsy’s GDI website or under me at Pastor Marv’s GDI website. (Both GDI businesses are completely seperate – neither Betsy nor I joined as a member of the other’s downline.)

If you join either of the two GDI Promotional programs above and then join GDI from within one of them, you will join under Betsy since I put her GDI referral information in both. This may change in the future.

If you want to join under one of us but are not sure which one, use the rotator address and let it choose one of us or one of our downline members randomly. It is at Blog Diyiin Bi’s GDI url rotator. If you join GDI under either Betsy or me, or under one of our downline members, your GDI promotional url will be added to the rotator as long as you are no more that five levels below Betsy or me. (This offer subject to change without notice – see the first “Pastor Marv Recommends” article for more complete disclaimer.)

Please consider joining GDI under one of us, and use these three programs to help promote your business. If you are already in GDI under someone else, you can still use these three programs. If you do, please sign up under us. If you join GDI under either Betsy or me, and you find a good program to promote GDI, let us know about it. If we join any program that is recommended by one of our blog readers, we will join it under the first person that brought it to our attention, as long as you are in either my GDI downline or Betsy’s.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3 John 1:2)

“The LORD bless thee, and keep thee.” (Numbers 6:24)
